Hornets outlast Panthers

Even though Wellsboro gave up 26 points in the 4th quarter they were still able to claim a 55-51 victory over the North Penn Panthers to start league play off with a win. Both teams got off to a very slow start as they only scored 6 points each in the first quarter. Wellsboro was able to take a 28-11 half time lead behind Jordan Jackson's 10 points in the 2nd quarter. The teams played even in the third quarter as they both scored 14 points.

Turnovers, poor execution, missed free-throws, and lack of composure for the Wellsboro Hornets allowed the Panthers back
into the game. Despite North Penn’s efforts; Wellsboro did just enough to come away with their first league victory of the season.

In JV action, the Hornets lost a heartbreaker, 39-38. Freshman Michael Pietropola was the team's leading scorer with 18 points. The Hornets will be back in action December 28, as they host the annual Wellsboro Hornets Sports Booster Club Holiday Tournament.
