Girls soccer falls to Troy

The Wellsboro Varsity girls soccer team fell 5-0 to Troy in their opening game of the 2012 season.

Troy opened up a 2-0 first half lead and went on to add three more goals in the second half. Troy's 5 goals with 7 shots. Brooke Mattocks and Courtney Binford from Troy both had one goal and Louisa Shedden finish the game with a hat trick.

"Troy is a great team, but the scoreboard didn't reflect the efforts in the first half," said first year head coach Carolyn Mitchell. "Unfortunately we weren't able to capitalize on our shots on goal."

In JV action, the Hornets fell to Troy 1-0. Just as the team was gaining some momentum, the game was called due to a power outage.

With the loss, the team falls to 0-1 (0-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Friday, September 7 as they travel to Williamson.
