Hornets come up short against Towanda

Wellsboro lost their second game of season with a 50-47 defeat to the Towanda Black Knights. Poor offensive execution and unforced turnovers was the problem for the Hornets. They committed 13 turnovers in the first half that led Towanda to a 24-16 first half lead.

The Hornets did a better job of protecting the basketball and executing their offense in the second half as they had an opportunity to tie the game up late in the game on a Michael Pietropola 3 point shot, but the ball rattled out securing the victory for the Black Knights.

Wellsboro was led by Jordan Jackson 13 points, Matt Reese 13 points, and Dylan Prough 12 points.

In JV action, Wellsboro fell to Towanda, 44-35. Michael Pietropola led the team in scoring with 21 points. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, February 1, as they host Wyalusing.
