The Wellsboro Lady Hornets fought hard but couldn't overcome the Lady Indians of CV. Falling behind by a score of 19-4 in the first quarter proved too big a deficit to overcome.

"The girls played hard," said coach Mary Grab, "but falling behind by that much so early in the game clearly hurt us. I definitely take the fall for that one, I should have made adjustments more quickly earlier in the first quarter."

CV played intense defense from the beginning, forcing the Hornets out of their comfort zone and into many rushed shots.

"On the positive side," said Grab, "the girls really dug deep and played their own intense defense, bringing the game within reach on several occasions later in the game."

With the loss, Wellsboro drops to 8-10 on the season (6-3 NTL West) with Mansfield at home this Saturday and Liberty and North Penn away next week. Leading Wellsboro with 16 points was Kimberly Acorn, followed by Mikayla Palmer-Bacon with 11. Chipping in two points apiece were Raina Rogers, Hannah Zuchowski, Mackenzie Marple, and Andrea Dean. Zuchowski led the team with 9 rebounds.

The JV fell to CV by a score of 32-22.
