The Wellsboro girls cross country team claimed the District IV Class A title today and punched their ticket to Hershey while the boys finished in third place.

The girls scored 52 points to edge out Towanda (67) and Northeast Bradford (99) for the gold. The win also means the entire team will run in next week's PIAA State Meet. The girls were led by Freshmen duo Jordyn Coffee and Jada Jackson. Coffee finished in 9th place overall with a time of 20:19, while Jackson was 10th at 20:33.

"I'm just so proud of the team," said Coffee. "We did our best today and we are really excited to run at states as a team."

Senior Randi Grim was the third Hornet across the line in 14th (21:28) and was followed by Junior Charlotte Worthington in 17th at 21:38. Worthington echoed Coffee's thoughts.

"The whole team ran really, really well today," stated Worthington. "We're really excited we are going to states as a team and I hope we do just as well next weekend."

Rounding out the rest of the girls finishers were Sophomore Denae Ingerick in 23rd (22:16), Freshman Camryn Keane in 27th (22:53), and Freshman Samantha Bailey in 33rd (23:31).

The boys, who scored 82 points, finished behind Northeast Bradford (32) and Canton (71). While the team did not qualify for states, Seniors Jordan Jackson and Bobby Hill did. Jackson finished 4th overall in a time of 16:18 and Hill was 7th at 16:50.

"Today was a huge success," said Jackson. "I'm very excited to share some of the success with Bobby and I was happy to see my sister (Jada) and her team go on to states."

Rounding out the rest of the boys finishers were Junior Joey Doganiero in 12th (17:18), Senior Derek Morgan in 30th (18:57), Freshman Dakota Cleveland in 36th (19:22), Sophomore Dalton Messmer in 46th (20:49), and Senior Drew Patrick in 47th (20:55).

WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate both boys and girls team for their hard work this season, and would like to wish Jordan, Bobby, and the entire girls team the best of luck next weekend at states.
