The Wellsboro Varsity boys soccer team recorded their fifth shut out victory this season with a 6-0 win over Northeast Bradford on Tuesday night.

The Wellsboro offense was clicking on all cylinders and started with a goal in the 28th minute from Senior Erik Stemcosky off an assist from Freshman Josiah Hill. Sophomore Joe Allen put the Hornets up 2-0 in the 35th minute when he converted an assist from Senior Dan Brooks.

Senior Aaron Dillman scored the third goal of the night in the 61st minute off an assist from Tucker Worthington, follwed by two goals by Brooks. The Hornets would close out the scoring when Junior Austin Haskins scored with just under six minutes remaining off an assist from Sophomore Sean Dooley.

Junior Jake Mitchell recorded 7 saves in goal for the Hornets.

"The win was a complete team effort. We are battling a couple injuries and every player stepped up their game tonight," said head coach John Shaffer. "We had kids get their first varsity goal or assist and a J.V. player debuted at center back and played great, the future is bright.

"I was very happy with our passing against a very aggressive Northeast team. I hope we can recreate this performance tomorrow night for Senior Night."

In the J.V. game, the Hornets won 1-0 on a goal by Freshman Landen Kennedy.

With the win the Hornets improve to 11-3 (11-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 9 as they host Towanda.
