Girls soccer splits at Towanda Tournament

The Wellsboro Varsity girls soccer team started the 2013 season off with a third place finish in the Towanda Tournament.

In Wellsboro's first game, the Lady Hornets fell to Sayre by the final of 4-1. After a scoreless first half, Sophomore Lindsey Graver scored on an assist from Freshman Kelsey Logan to put the team up 1-0. Sayre then went on to score 4 unanswered goals to claim the victory.

In the game, Junior Goalie Meghan Bodine recorded 11 saves.

In the consolation game against Williamson, the Lady Hornets picked up a 4-0 win in a rain-shortened game. Logan, Junior Lauren Bleggi, Sophomore Sarah Ingerick, and Sophomore Alexa Singer all had goals. Graver and Ingerick each recorded assists, while Bodine recorded one save.

With the finish, the Lady Hornets are 1-1 (0-0 NTL) on the year. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 4 as they travel to Troy.
