Girls track stays undefeated, top Canton and Sayre

The Wellsboro girls' track and field team scored 122.5 points en route of their sweep over Sayre and Canton Tuesday. Sayre amassed 48 points while Canton had 18.5.

Wellsboro's 4x800, relay won in 10:48.8 to start off the meet, Senior Mackenzie Marple took 2nd in the 100m hurdles in 17.0 while Haley Zuchowski tied for third with a time of 18.8.

Senior Kimberly Acorn won the triple jump in 31' 2.25", Junior Katie Straniere was 2nd in the discus (77' 6.5"), and Senior Sarah Kramer won the pole vault with a jump of 9'.

Sophomore Lauren Bleggi led a Hornet sweep of the 100m run in 13.4 while teammates Kramer (13.5) and Freshman Lindsey Graver (13.9) were second and third.

Senior Randi Grim won the 1600m run in 5:46.6 with Freshman Jordyn Coffee in 3rd (5:50), Junior Alex Kurtz won the shot put with a throw of 27' 10", Freshman Jada Jackson won the 400m (1:00.9), and Wellsboro's 4x100m relay team won in 53.6.

Acorn won the long jump (14' 8"), Freshman Camryn Keane won the high jump (4' 10"), Senior Becky Chambers won the 800m( 2:38.7), and Bleggi led a sweep of the 200m run in 27.3 with Acorn second at 29.4 and Graver third at 29.7.

Coffee won the 3200m run in 12:22.9 and the the 4x400m relay team took home the top spot in 4:18.2 to round out the meet.

With the wins, the Lady Hornets improve to 8-0 (7-0 NTL). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, May 7 as they travel to Wyalusing.
