Hornet track competes at Twin Tiers Invite

The Wellsboro boys and girls track teams competed at the Twin Tiers Invite in Bolivar, NY Friday evening.

For the girls, Senior Sarah Kramer won the pole vault at 8' 0" and Freshman Joey Taft was 2nd (7' 6"). Senior Kimberly Acorn took home 3rd place in the long jump (15' 1") and won the triple jump (33' 7"), and Seniors Jessie Catherman (84' 8") and Hannah Zuchowski (82' 5") finished 3rd and 4th in the discus.

Junior Kaelyn Keane took home 3rd place in the high jump at 4' 8", Sophomore Danielle Mihalik was 3rd in the shot put (27' 10.5"), Senior Mackenzie Marple took home first place in the 100m hurdles (17.25), and the 4x800m relay team of Senior Becky Chambers, Senior Randi Grim, Sophomore Annie Sweeney, and Freshman Jada Jackson were 1st with a time of 10:21.86.

In the 100m run, Sophomore Lauren Bleggi (13.44) and Freshman Lindsey Graver (14.06) were 1st and 2nd, Grim (5:41.35), Freshman Jordyn Coffee (5:50.99), and Freshman Camryn Keane (5:51.86) swept the 1600m run, Jackson captured the gold in the 400m run (1:01.14), the 4x100m team took home first in 52.84, Bleggi (28.02) and Graver (29.2) finished first and second in the 200m run, and the 4x400m relay team took home first in 4:21.8.

For the boys, Sophomore Nick Marple finished third in the long jump (18' 4.5") followed by Senior Mitch Snyder at 18' 2.5". Marple (5' 6") and Freshman Rich Tardieu (5' 6") finished 2nd and 3rd in the high jump, Senior Thomas Straniere finished 3rd in the pole vault at 11' 6", and Junior Blair Carson (18.12) was 4th in 110m hurdles.

Junior Dan Brooks won the 100m run in 11.9, Senior Bobby Hill ws the runner up in the 1600m run with a time of 4:22.83, Senior Jordan Jackson took home the top spot in the 400m run (51.47) with Junior Joey Doganiero finishing in 3rd (52.87), the 4x100m relay team of Brooks, Marple, Snyder and Sophomore Kieron Smethers were first with a time of 46.66, and Sophomore Jack Chambers finished 2nd in the 300m hurdles (43.65).

The Hornets swept the 800m run, as Jackson (1:59.67), Hill (2:02.72), and Doganiero (2:04.95) finihsed 1-2-3, Brooks finished 3rd in the 200m run (24.27), and the 4x400m relay team of Doganiero, Hill, Smethers. and Jackson won the event with a time of 3:30.76.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, April 30 as they will be on the road against Sayre and Canton.
