Hornets trounce Cowanesque Valley

The Wellsboro boys basketball team continued their hot streak as they cruised to victory against Cowanesque by the final score of 74-32.

Four members of the team were in double figures on the night, as Sophomore Michael Pietropola led the way with 20 points. Freshman Dawson Prough, Junior Joey Doganiero, and Sophomore Kieron Smethers also pitched in 10 points each.

Pietropola added six rebounds, two assists and three steals while Smethers had six assists, four steals, and two blocks.

Rounding out the rest of the scoring for the Hornets were Senior Matt Reese finished with 9, Senior Jordan Jackson with 6, Junior Kyler Widows with 4, and Junior Dylan Prough with 2 points.

In the JV game, the Hornets won 43-32. Sophomore Dylan Widows hit 4 three-points to finish with 12 points. Dawson Prough also had 12 points, and Sophomore Brett Kendrick added in 11 for the JV team's 8th win of the season.

With the win, the Varsity team improves to 13-1 (4-0 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Friday, January 18 as they host Williamson.
