The JV Hornet baseball team dropped a 18-15 decision to Troy Tuesday afternoon in Wellsboro. Offense was aplenty, as the Hornets put up the most runs in a game for the season. Unfortunately, they could not keep runs off the board.

Freshman Sam Moss threw three quality innings for the Hornets, giving up four runs. Freshamn Joe Allen relieved him for three innings and struggled through them, giving up seven runs total. While Moss and Allen were plugging away on the mound, the Hornet offense had a strong showing, putting up nine runs in the fourth inning. They would plate three in the fifth to go along with one in the third.

The Hornet offense was led by Allen contributing two doubles, and three hit games by Freshman Anthony Cooper and Moss. Sophomore Dylan Widows, Freshman Nick Tremper, and Sophomore Rusty Krystoff scored twice on the night. Freshman James Mundy and Tremper contributed a hit a piece on the night.

The Hornets entered the seventh inning grasping onto a two run lead. Unfortunately, four walks in a row, followed by four errors by the defense allowed Troy to score seven runs in the inning, eventually winning the game by three.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-6-2 on the season. The team will be back in action on Thursday, April 25 as they host Williamson.
