The Wellsboro Lady Hornets qualified for District IV playoffs with a 72-49 win over rival North Penn Thursday night on Senior Night.

The team has had an up and down season, but head coach Mary Grab was very proud of her team after last night's win.

"The girls did a great job, never gave up and kept the pressure on North Penn," Grab said. "I am super proud of all of them."

Three Hornets were in double figures on the night. Senior Mackenzie Marple and Freshman Sarah Ingerick each had 18 points, and Freshman Jada Jackson added 17 points.

Marple's 18 points now set her at 960 for her career, leaving her just 40 points shy of 1,000.

"We took it down to the wire but it was nice to get that win last night and finally play together as a team in the fourth quarter," Marple said. "We're excited for districts and we're going to prepare the best we can."

Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Hornets were Senior Kimberly Acorn with 9 points, Senior Hannah Zuchowski with 8 points and 8 rebounds, and Senior Jessie Catherman with 2 points.

In the JV game, the Hornets won 56-27 to finish their season with a perfect 20-0 record. Jackson led the team in scoring on the night with 20 points and Ingerick contributed 14.

Witth the win, the Hornets improve to 11-11 (7-3 NTL West). Please stay tuned to WellsboroAthletics.com as team awaits their District seeding.
