Lehman comes up one hit shy of cycle against Sayre

Sophomore Baylea Lehman came up one hit shy of hitting for the cycle as the Wellsboro Varsity softball team beat Sayre, 11-0.

Lehman went 3-4 on the afternoon, hitting a single, double, and triple to go with 4 RBI's to lead the Lady Hornets at the plate. Freshman Jenny Young went 2-2 with an RBI and run scored, Freshman Alexa Singer went 1-1 with a walk, RBI, and run scored, and Freshman Sarah Ingerick was 2-2 with two triples.

Junior Maggie Smith went 1-2 with a triple, an RBI, and scored a run, Senior Mackenzie Marple was 1-1 with an RBI and a run, and Freshman Darci Warriner went 1-2, while Junior Brooke Kohler, Sophomore Peyton Wilson, Sophomore Jordan Butters, and Sophomore Paige Carr all scored runs to round out the Lady Hornets at the plate.

Smith pitched all 5 innings for the Lady Hornets to pick up third win of the season. She allowed 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 8 on the night on 71 pitches.

In JV action, the Lady Hornets picked up their fourth win of the season with a 10-3 win over Sayre.

With the win, the Varsity team improves to 7-3 (3-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 30 as they travel to Troy.
