The Middle School football teams improved to 4-0 Thursday night in a 42-14 win over the rival North Penn Panthers.

Wellsboro opened up the scoring in the first quarter with a Chase Moser QB sneak. Parker Mann received the pass on the two point conversion to give Wellsboro the early 8-0 lead.

Wellsboro would strike again in the second quarter as 8th grade Quarterback Quinn Henry found Parker Mann in the end zone for a deep TD strike. This was Parker’s first of the year.

Head coach Shane Mascho had high praise for his receiving corps.

"Parker and Dalton have been putting in their work blocking the past couple of weeks. Coach Chris Reese does a nice job developing young receivers and they showed the work they put in tonight."

The two-point conversion failed for the Hornets putting them up 14-0.

Dalton Prough intercepted a North Penn pass in the following series. Quinn Henry would find Kody Rice for a touchdown pass that combined with a Collin Pietropola PAT put the score at 21-0 at half time.

Chase Moser would strike again in the second half on a touchdown run. The PAT was unsuccessful making the score 27-0 Wellsboro.

The Wellsboro defense continued to be a force giving Wellsboro good field position again. Cole Cavanaugh would capitalize on the field positioning and scored a touchdown on a run. The Hornets would complete the PAT making the score 34-0 Wellsboro.

North Penn would score on their subsequent drive, resulting in the first points given up by the Hornets defense on the year. Cole Cavanaugh would return a punt for a touchdown, along with another successful PAT conversion by Pietropola to make the score 42-6 Wellsboro and enact the Mercy rule.
