Varsity girls soccer falls to Athens

The Wellsboro Varsity girls soccer team dropped their third straight game as Athens beat the Lady Hornets 3-0 Monday night in Wellsboro.

Less than 10 minutes into the game Lizzie Reid to put Athens up 1-0. Then at the 43:08 mark Mackenzie Warner found the back of the net to make it 2-0 Wildcats at the half.

Late in the second half Rachael Donnelly made it 3-0 with a goal.

Athens edged out Wellsboro in shots 11-10 as Wildcat keeper Morgan Westbrook had nine saves in the shut out. Junior Meghan Bodine had six saves for the Lady Hornets.

In the J.V. game, Athens beat Wellsboro 4-1.

With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-4 (0-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 11 as they host Northeast Bradford.
