Boys track tops Troy, 104-45

The Wellsboro Varsity boys track team picked up their second win of the season as they beat Troy 104-45 on Thursday, April 3.

Senior Dan Brooks and Junior Michael Pietropola took home first and second in the 100m run with times of 11.7 and 12.2. Brooks claimed the 200m run with a time of 23.6 and Senior Joey Doganiero was third at 23.8.

Junior Kieron Smethers took home first in the 400m run with a time of 54.8. Doganiero won the 1600m run with a time of 5:08.2 and Sophomore Issac Leach was second in the 3200m run at 12:03.8.

Junior Jack Chambers (18.0) and Senior Blair Carson (18.7) were second at third in the 110m hurdles, and Chambers was second in the 300m hurdles at 43.1 and Sophomore Rich Tardieu was third at 45.9.

The 4x100m relay team won in a time of 47.2 and the 4x400m team won in 3:47.1.

The Hornets swept the high jump as Smethers (5' 8") took first, Senior Dylan Prough and Tardieu tied for second at 5' 6".

Sophomore Anthony Cooper won the pole vault at 8' 0" followed by Freshman Dominic Spencer in second at 7' 6". Prough (19' 4") and Pietropola (19' 0") took home first and second in the long jump, and Prough won the triple jump in 35' 10". Junior Jake Mitchell was second at 33' 10" and Sophomore Quinten Curneir was third at 29' 5".

Junior Jonas Benner won the shot put with a throw of 37' 3.5", Junior Bill Lupkowski won the discus at 119' 7", and Junior Nick Marple won the javelin at 149' 11".

With the win, the boys improve to 2-0 (2-0 NTL). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 8 as they travel to Towanda.
