Hornet Soccer falls to Northern Potter

The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team dropped their third consecutive game as they lost to Northern Potter 2-1 on Wednesday, October 1.

The Hornets took the early lead 8:47 in when Junior Joe Allen scored off an assist from Sophomore Josiah Hill. Northern Potter would tie the game at 1-1 when Payden Bice scored at 21:51 to tie the game. Just under seven minutes later, at 28:12, Bice scored again to put Northern Potter on top.

Wellsboro came out with intensity and put pressure on in the second half, but Northern Potter was able to hang on for the win.

In Middle School Soccer, the Hornets lost to Athens 4-1. Athens would score first but the Hornets tied the game up as Emma Poirier eventually headed a Camron Tennis corner kick.

Athens would strike once more before the half. 

Wellsboro didn’t have as many opportunities in the second half, and Athens would score two more times before the end of game.  Wellsboro did not allow any easy goals for Athens. Nate Redell had 12 saves.

With the loss, the Middle School team falls to 5-4 and the Varsity team is now 8-4 (8-4 NTL). The team will be back in action on Monday, October 6 as they host Sayre.
