Lady Hornets fall to Wyalusing

The Wellsboro Varsity softball team struggled at the plate as they lost 7-1 to Wyalusing on Monday, May 12.

Wyalusing struck first in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Wellsboro would battle back to tie game up in the third inning, but Wyalusing exploded for five runs in the fifth to take home the win.

Junior Jordan Butters had two hits and a run scored to lead the way. Sophomore Alexa Singer added a double while Junior Peyton Wilson, Junior Baylea Lehman, and Sophomore Jenny Young also had hits.

Singer started and earned the loss, striking out three while allowing one walk, nine hits and five runs. Senior Brooke Kohler came on in relief, striking out three with two hits and two runs.

With the loss the Lady Hornets fall to 13-5 (5-5 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, May 15 as they host South Williamsport.
