Lady Hornets top Coudersport, 4-1

The Wellsboro Varsity softball team pounded out eight hits to defeat Coudersport 4-1 on Thursday, May 8.

The Lady Hornets scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, added a run in the third and scored two more in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. Coudersport scored their lone run in the top of the seventh but were unable to score more as the Lady Hornets held on for the win.

Junior Jordan Butters went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI at the plate to lead the team. Senior Brooke Kohler went 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run. Junior Baylea Lehman, Sophomore Sarah Ingerick, Junior Peyton Wilson, and Junior Paige Carr added the other hits on the night.

Ingerick had an RBI and Wilson's hit was a double.

Sophomore Darci Warriner scored two runs, Senior Maggie Smith scored a run and Kohler scored a run.

Sophomore Alexa Singer went the distance on the mound to pick up her tenth win of the year. Singer struck out 12 and gave up four hits and three walks on 106 pitches.

With the win the Lady Hornets improve to 12-4 (4-4 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action today as they host Liberty.
