The Wellsboro Middle School boys basketball team fell to Coudersport 35-29 on Friday, February 28.

The Hornets trailed 9-0 after the first quarter as they were unable to convert any shot attempts. The Hornets cut the lead to 16-8 at the half and 24-13 after the third quarter. Nic Ingerick and Dalton Prough both hit fourth quarter threes that put the Hornets back in the game. The Hornets outscored Coudersport 16-11 in the fourth quarter, but seven of Coudersport's 11 fourth quarter points came from the foul line.

"Many of Coudersport's first half points came off of the fast break," said head coach Ed Hamm. "In the second half Coudersport tried to play 'stall ball' before we stepped up our defensive pressure."

Prough led the way with 10 points on the night while Collin Pietropola added nine.

In the B game, the Hornets lost 29-7.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 2-2 on the year. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 4 as they host North Penn.
