Hornet grapplers fall to NEB

The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team dropped their first match of the year 66-9 to Northeast Bradford on Tuesday, December 8.

The match started at 160 lbs. with NEB's Tyler Devonshire pinning freshman Brennan Catherman in 10:03. Freshman Hunter Brown was pinned at 170 lbs. by Alec Morris in 5:31 and the was a double forfeit at 182 lbs. Freshman Robert Brown scored the Hornets' first points as he won a 12-8 decision over Jonny Merritt at 195 lbs. and junior Dominic Spencer pinned Seth Forbes in 3:14 at 220 lbs.

NEB then took the next seven bouts by forfeit before Cody Bond pinned junior Caleb Sinkler at 145 lbs. and Aaron Boss pinned senior Tyler Evans at 152 lbs. to close out the match.

The Wellsboro Middle School team won their first match of the year with a 48-6 score.

The Hornets are now 0-1 (0-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, December 22 as they host Wyalusing.
