Hornet track sweeps Sayre

The Wellsboro Track teams each picked up wins over Sayre on Thursday, April 16.

The girls defeated Sayre 96.5-44.5 and the boys won 90-51.

For the girls, Freshman Anna Bleggi (13:35), Sophomore Janessa Davis (13:43), and Junior Jordyn Coffee (15:06) swept the 3200m, Junior Haley Zuchowski (17.73) was 2nd in the 100m hurdles, Junior Jada Jackson (13.45), Senior Lauren Bleggi (14.07), and Junior Lindsey Graver (14.44) finished swept the 100m, and Anna Bleggi (6:29) won the 1600m.

Senior Caitlynn Butler (1:09.6) was 2nd in the 400m, the 4x100m finished 1st in 53.0, Zuchowski won the 300m hurdles (53.3), Junior Camryn Keane won the 800m (2:46), and Lauren Bleggi won the 200m (28.4). Junior Raisa Rogers (5' 1") won the high jump, Jackson won the long jump (16' 3.5") with Graver(15' 5") in 2nd. Jackson also won the triple jump (36' 7.5") with Graver (32') in 2nd, Junior Joey Taft won the pole vault (7' 6"), Senior Meghan Bodine was 3rd in the discus (79'), and Sophomore Samantha Spurgeon (75' 8") and Keane (69' 4") were 2nd and 3rd in the javelin.

For the boys, Junior Isaac Leach was 2nd in the 3200m (12:43), Senior Jack Chambers won the 110m hurdles (18.5), and Seniors Michael Pietropola (12.14), Nick Marple (12.14), and Brieux Thibaut (12.44) swept the 100m. Leach was 2nd in the 1600m (5:15), Senior Kieron Smethers was 2nd in the 400m (53.7), and the 4x100m relay won in 45.2.

Chambers won the 300m hurdles (44.2), Thibaut won the 200m (24.8) followed by Smethers (25.5), Marple won the high jump (5' 8") followed by Junior Rich Tardieu (5' 6") in 2nd, Pietropola (19' 1.5") won the long jump followed by Sophomore Jacob Singer (15' 7.5 ") in 2nd. Tardieu won the triple jump (38' 1.5") with Chambers (29' 9..5") in 2nd and Singer (27' 4.5") in 3rd, Freshman Devin Webster was 2nd in the pole vault (8'), Senior Jonas Benner (89' 11") was 3rd in the discus, and Sophomore Brandon Lamphier (122' 1") won the javelin with Sophomore Brody Coolidge in 2nd (108' 10").

With the wins, the girls improve to 3-1 while the boys improve to 2-2. Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, April 21 as they host Canton and Towanda.
