Hornet wrestlers fall to Sayre

The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team dropped a league match to Sayre on Tuesday, January 6.

The Hornets lost 45-12 as two members of the team picked up forfeits. Sophomore Kaleb Smith and Junior Owen Covert each won by forfeit at 220 lbs. and 285 lbs., respectively. Sophomore Blaze Coolidge lost to Damon Whipple at 138 lbs. by pin at 1:48, Junior Vincent DeRita was pinned by Gavin Lundy-McCutcheon in 1:34 at 145 lbs., and Senior Jack Chambers lost an 8-4 decision to Matthew Ingrassia at 152 lbs.

The Middle School team picked up a 33-30 victory over the host Redskins on the night.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 1-8 (0-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 8 as they travel to North Penn.
