Lady Hornet track top Towanda, Canton

The Wellsboro Girls Track team scored 95 points en route to a sweep of Towanda and Canton on Tuesday, April 21.

Towanda was 2nd with 50 points and Canton scored 40.

Junior Jada Jackson (12.8) and Senior Lauren Bleggi (12.9) swept the 100m with Senior Peyton Wilson (13.9) in 6th, Lauren Bleggi (26.1) won the 200m and Junior Lindsey Graver (29.4) was 3rd, Senior Caitlynn Butler (1:12) was 5th in the 400m, Junior Camryn Keane (2:40.7) and Senior Annie Sweeney (2:46.8) swept the 800m, Freshman Anna Bleggi (6:12.9) was 2nd in the 1600m and won the 3200m (13:38), and Sophomore Janessa Davis (13:40) was 2nd in the 3200m.

Junior Haley Zuchowski (17.7) won the 100m hurdles with Junior Emma Eccher (18.4), Junior Raisa Rogers (54.3) won the 300m hurdles and Eccher was 3rd in 56.1.

The 4x400m relay team of Rogers, Eccher, Butler, and Junior Hannah Guindon finished 2nd in 4:54 behind Towanda and the 4x800m team of Butler, Sweeney, Keane, and Davis won in 11:43.

Rogers (4' 9") and Junior Mikayla Feil (4' 9") swept the high jump, Sophomore Melody Benner (7' 5") and Junior Joey Taft (7' 5") were 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault, Jackson (16' 6.5") and Graver (15' 8.5") swept the long jump, and Jackson (34' 4") and Graver (31' 8") swept the triple jump.

Sophomore Allyssa Boyd (23' 7.5") was 4th in the shot put, Sophomores Hannah Lawton (74' 2") and Samantha Spurgeon (71' 1") were 2nd and 3rd in the discus, and Feil (75' 8") and Spurgeon (71') were 2nd and 3rd in the javelin.

With the wins, the Lady Hornets improve to 5-1. The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 25 as they participate in the Lock Haven Invite.
