Senior Nick Marple has officially announced on Tuesday, May 5 that he will be a member of Lock Haven's football team in the fall.

Marple was the Hornets' top receiver during the 2014 football season as he caught 46 passes, a Wellsboro Varsity Football Record*, for 931 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also had five 100+ yard receiving games, including four consecutive games of 120+ yards to start the season.

In addition to his impressive offensive numbers, Marple was Wellsboro's hardest hitter in the secondary where he recorded 55 tackles and snagged 5 interceptions and broke up 5 passes in 2014.

Marple looked at several schools before deciding on Lock Haven.

"It was a pretty tough process to go through and was very stressful," Marple said. "I'm really happy with my decision and had to chance to go through it and can't wait to get on the field. I think Lock Haven was the best fit for me, the school itself was better than some of the other schools I was looking at, and the location appealed to me."

Head coach Matt Hildebrand is very proud that Nick will continue his football career next year, and credits his work ethic for making that a possibility.

"Nick was a key part in turning the program around," Hildebrand said. "As a coach this is really what you hope for to know that you were able to help someone prepare for their future. Nick will be very successful in college due to his work ethic. Living in such a small area it is not as easy to get noticed, but Nick helped himself with his play, but also his strong work ethic in the classroom. The entire Wellsboro coaching staff is very proud of Nick and wishes him the best of luck in his college career."

WellsboroFootball.com would like to congratulate Nick on his commitment to Lock Haven and wish him the best of luck at the collegiate level.
