Hornet golfers finish 2nd on home course

The Wellsboro Golf team came home with a 2nd place finish at Tyoga Country Club on Tuesday, September 27.

The Hornets shot 379 as a team to finish 10 strokes behind Northern Tioga (369). Sayre (397) finished 3rd, Towanda (401) was 4th, Athens (410) was 5th, Northeast Bradford (423) was 6th, and North Penn-Mansfield rounded out the field with a team score of 429.

Sayre's Ryan Murelle earned medalist honors with a round of 82, followed by Wyalusing's Holden Hitchcock with 84. Sopohmore Ben Barnett finished 3rd overall with a score of 85 to lead the Hornets. Sophomore Brandyn Tuttle shot 93, sophomore Taynton Repard finished with 96, freshman Ty Morral shot 105, freshman Joseph Propheta came home with a 112, and sophomore Chris Richardson rounded out the team with a 123.

The Hornets (31-5) sit 3 games back of Northern Tioga (34-2) heading into their final league match at Tomasso's Country Club on Monday, October 3 before Districts start on Thursday, October 6 at Eagles Mere Country Club.
