Boys Track picks up first win of season

The Wellsboro Boys Track team picked up their first win of the 2017 season against Montgomery on Thursday, April 27.

The boys scored 92 points to Montgomery's 58. Montgomery's girls team managed to edge Wellsboro 78-71.

In the boys meet, the Hornets won the 4x100m in 49.3 and the 4x800m in 9:36.40. Freshmen Silas Wagaman (12.3) and Devan Warner (12.4) were 2nd and 3rd in the 100m, and junior Wyatt Dean (26.1) and senior Devan Warner (27.5) were 2nd and 3rd in the 200m.

Wellsboro swept the 400m with Dean (57.58) taking the top spot, followed by Devan Warner (59.30), sophomore Brett Rudy (1:00.90), Wagaman (1:04.00), and freshman Brennan Warner (1:05.30).

Rudy won the 800m in 2:29.50, freshman Austin Richards (5:38.90) won the 1600m, sophomore Aidan Perry (11:43.50) won the 3200m and Richards was 3rd (13:01.90), senior Casey Hoover (20.00) won the 110m hurdles with freshman Alex Burrell (21.4) in 3rd, sophomore Isaac Wagner (50.80) was 2nd in the 300m hurdles with freshman Karter Witmer (56.2) in 3rd and Hoover (58.5) in 4th.

Perry won the discus with a throw of 93-ft, 4-in, Hoover (32-ft, 0.5-in) was 2nd in the shot put with Perry (29-ft, 3-in) in 3rd, senior Brandon Lamphier (143-ft) won the javelin, and junior Gabe Leach (10-ft) was 2nd in the pole vault.

The Hornets swept the long jump with senior Dupree Hosey taking 1st at 18-ft, 5-in, followed by Lamphier (17-ft, 10-in), and Dean (17-ft, 6.75-in). Hosey won the triple jump (38-ft, 9.5-in) with Witmer (33-ft, 5-in) and Burrell (32-ft) in 3rd and 4th, and Hosey won the high jump clearing 5-ft, 8-in.

In the girls meet the Lady Hornets won the 4x100m (59.3) and the 4x800m (12:49.60). Sophomore Zoe Iseri (15.2) was 3rd in the 100m, freshman Savana Baltzley (32.8) and Iseri (33.8) were 3rd and 4th in the 200m, Iseri (1:17.20) and freshman Alex Chilson (1:30.30) were 2nd and 3rd in the 400m, sophomore Elizabeth Macias (2:57.30) and freshman Kayla Mengee (3:04.80) were 2nd and 3rd in the 800m, Macias (6:23.30) and junior Anna Bleggi (14:52.10) were 2nd and 3rd in the 1600m, and Wellsboro swept the 3200m run with Macias (14:28.70), Bleggi (14:52.10), and Mengee (15:11.90) were 1st-3rd.

Junior Grace Heckman (20.00) won the 100m hurdles with senior Chenoa Holsomback (20.10) in 2nd, Baltzley (1:01.20) was 2nd in the 300m hurdles, senior Hannah Lawton (83-ft, 7-in) and Samantha Spurgeon (82-ft, 10-in) were 2nd and 3rd in the discus, Lawton (27-ft) was 2nd in the shot put, and Spurgeon (86-ft, 11-in) won the javelin with Heckman (76-ft, 5-in) in 3rd.

Sophomore Dahlia Hosey (13-ft, 3-in) was 2nd in the long jump with junior Cheyenne Sherman (12-ft, 7-in) in 4th, Hosey (30-ft, 3-in) was 2nd in the triple jump, and Hosey and sophomore Alivia Kennedy (4-ft, 4-in) tied for 1st in the high jump.

The Hornets are back on the track tonight in Wyalusing.
