Hornet boys 3rd, girls 2nd at Towanda

In their second meeting of the year, the Wellsboro Boys Track team finished 3rd and the Girls Track team finished 2nd at Towanda on Wednesday, April 19.

Towanda boys won their meet with 99 points, Canton was second with 41, and the Hornets were third with 36. Towanda girls scored 72 points for the win, the Lady Hornets had 57 points for second, and Canton was third with a score of 49.

Senior Brandon Lamphier was 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 128-ft, 6-in, freshman Alex Burrell (19.75) was 3rd in the 110m hurdles, senior Devan Warner (11.78) was 2nd in the 100m, freshman Austin Richards (5:22.73) was 3rd in the 1600m and 3rd in the 800m (2:31.69), and sophomore Brett Rudy (57.85) was 3rd in the 400m.

Senior Dupree Hosey (5-ft, 6-in) was 3rd in the high jump, 2nd in the long jump (17-ft, 7-in), and won the triple jump (35-ft, 9-in).

In the girls meet, senior Samantha Spurgeon (92-ft, 3-in) was 2nd in the javelin, junior Grace Heckman (20.15) was 2nd in the 100m hurdles, freshman Caitlyn Callahan (14.13) was 3rd in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m (30.74), sophomore Elizabeth Macias (6:20.06) and junior Anna Bleggi (6:25.85) swept the 1600m, junior Jillian Graver (4-ft, 4-in) was third in the high jump, sophomore Zoe Iseri (1:12.29) was 3rd in the 400m, freshman Savana Baltzley (58.03) was 2nd in the 300m hurdles, Macias (2:56.02) was 3rd in the 800m, and senior Hannah Lawton (80-ft, 11-in) won the discus.

Sophomore Dahlia Hosey (13-ft, 8-in) was 2nd in the long jump and was 2nd in the high jump (4-ft, 6-in). Callahan (29-ft, 1-in) took 2nd in the triple jump, sophomore Alivia Kennedy (26-ft, 9-in) was 3rd in the triple jump, Bleggi (14:25.45) won the 3200m, and Wellsboro's 4x400 relay won in 5:18.53.

The boys team is now 0-3 (0-2 NTL) on the year, while the girls are 1-2 (1-1 NTL). Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, April 25 at Athens.
