Hornet wrestlers struggle against Canton

The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team dropped a 44-17 contest on the wrestling mat to Canton on Thursday, January 12.

The Hornets had three winners on the night but were docked a points for unsportsmanlike conduct. Senior Caleb Sinkler pinned Chance Deljohnovan in 3:07 at 145 lbs., sophomore Hunter Brown pinned Logan Brown at 195 lbs., and sophomore Robert Brown scored a forfeit at 220 lbs. for the Hornet wins.

Freshman Aidan Hauser lost by tech fall (18-2) at 138 lbs. to Ethan Landis, Garrett Storch edged sophomore Jared Moreno in a 5-3 decision at 160 lbs., and Sawyer Wooster pinned senior Kaleb Smith in 1:04 at 285 lbs.

The loss drops the Hornets to 3-9 (1-4 NTL) on the year. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, January 17 when they host Sayre.
