The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team dropped a close 19-14 game to Towanda on Monday, February 6.

Wellsboro trailed 9-4 after the first quarter, 11-6 at halftime, and 11-7 after three, but rallied to take the lead twice in the fourth.

"Our girls gave a really good effort," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We had 30 rebounds in the game, had our lowest turnover total of the year (15), and hustled the whole game. We just need to find a way to start making some of the shots we are missing (6/39). We are getting a lot of close shots."

Jena Boyce had 8 points to lead the young Lady Hornets, Sarah Mosher and Bailey Monks had 3 points each, and Chelsie English had 10 rebounds.

Wellsboro's B team also lost 10-8.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets' record to 1-5. The team will back in action on Wednesday, February 8 at home against Canton.
