The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams split with North Penn-Mansfield on Saturday, February 11.

In the boys game the Hornets lost 37-21. Wellsboro was down 12-4 early on and could never recover, and struggled with find shots on the day. Isaac Keane led the team with 6 points and Nevin DeCosta and Joseph Grab had 4 points each.

Wellsboro's B team lost 24-20.

The Wellsboro girls were victorious for the third time this season as they won 30-19.

"We had another solid team win today," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We keep getting better and if we can cut down on some of the little mistakes, we can be a good basketball team."

The Lady Hornets were up 5-4 after the first but outscored the Tigers 10-4 in the second to put the game away.

Chelsie English had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 steals; Jena Boyce had 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 steals; Bailey Monks had 4 points; while Lindsey Marmara had 2 points. Abbye Cavanaugh had 4 rebounds and 2 steals, Sarah Mosher had 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists.

The B team tied at 16-16.

The teams will be back in action this coming week against Cowanesuqe Valley, Northeast Bradford, and Troy.
