Three Hornets break pool records at NTL Meet

Three members of the Wellsboro Swim team set new Sayre pool records at the NTL Championship Meet on Wednesday, February 8.

Seniors Nathan Cotner and Olivia Kurtz and freshman Cathryn Brought all set new records in the Sayre pool. Cotner set the 200 Freestyle record, from 2004, with a time of 1:48.47, Kurtz broke her record from last season in the 50 Freestyle at 25.47, and Brought broke a record from 2007 in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 55.66.

The Hornets had a strong showing at the league meet as they posted six championship times, 4 2nd place finishes, and three 3rd place finishes. Cotner also won the 100 Freestyle in 43.53, Cathryn Brought also won the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.93), and junior Connor Brought won the 100 Breaststroke (1:09.56).

Kurtz was 2nd (55.86) in the 100 Freestyle, freshman Brennan Warner was 2nd in the 50 Freestyle (24.91) and 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke (1:13.12), and junior Abby Feil was 2nd in the 100 Backstroke (1:13.16). Junior Kaitlyne Kramer took home a 3rd place finish in the 200 Freestyle in 2:15.02, Connor Brought was 3rd in the 200 Freestyle (2:00.16), and senior Devan Warner (58.91) was 3rd in the 50 Freestyle.

Kramer added a 5th place finish in the 500 Freestyle (6:21.74), Devan Warner was 6th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:16.99), and Feil finished 8th in the 50 Freestyle (29.95).

The team will be at the Williamsport Coaches Invite on Saturday, February 11.
