The Athens Lady Wildcats shut out Wellsboro 4-0 on Wednesday, October 3 to send the Lady Hornets on a three-game skid.

After a nearly scoreless first half, Athens' Abby Sindoni scored unassisted with 53 seconds remaining to give the Lady Wildcats a 1-0 lead. After the half, however, it was all Athens as they added three more goals to put the game away.

Ariana Gambrell scored midway through the second half followed by two goals by Rachel Hutchison, one at 10:24 and the other at 8:47, to keep the Lady Wildcats perfect at 10-0 on the season.

Athens took 18 shots on goal during the game and held Wellsboro to just three, one by senior Emma Poirier and one each by sophomores Kerrah Clymer and Jena Boyce. Freshman Lilly Abadi stopped 13 shots in goal.

In the JV game, the Lady Hornets got some payback as they shutout Athens on two goals by junior Savana Baltzley. Their win improves the team to 4-6.

The loss in the Varsity game drops the Lady Hornets to 6-6 (6-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Saturday, October 6 as they host Troy.
