The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams won a pair of games on the road in Wyalusing on Monday, November 25.

"We have been starting very slow the past few games, but have found a way to turn it on in the second quarter," head coach Kyle Smith said. "We are getting plenty of open shots, the boys just need to play with more confidence and the shots will start to fall. I'm excited about the potential for this team to be really good. As soon as the boys start to believe in themselves, they can be even better."

The B team lost 31-17. Micaiah Fitch and Micah Vickery each scored 6 points, E.J. Keck scored 3 points, and Braeden Abernathy added 2 points.

In the girls game the Lady Hornets scored a 24-11 win. After trailing 7-4 after the opening quarter Wellsboro held the Lady Rams scoreless in the 2nd to take a 10-7 lead at halftime and then never looked back.

Emily Morris had 8 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, Maddy Mascho had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists, Emily Richardson had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 2 assists, Paige Logsdon (7 rebounds, 2 steals), Chloe Brandenburg (3 rebounds, 4 steals), and Emily Pierce (2 rebounds) had 2 points each.

Olivia Chilson added 2 rebounds while Hannalee Cleveland had 1 rebound and 2 steals.

"We had a slow start and didn't match their intensity early, but I really liked how our girls responded and took control in the last 3 quarters," said head coach Darrell Morris.

Wellsboro's B team also won 20-18 after trailing 10-3 at the half. Chloe Brandenburg had 12 points, Emily Pierce had 6 points, and Paige Logsdon had 2 points.

Both teams are off until after the Thanksgiving holiday when they host Troy on Tuesday, December 3.
