Selinsgrove drops first game of year, fall to Mount Carmel

MOUNT CARMEL - Selinsgrove rallied from an 11-point first-quarter deficit to tie defending District 4 Class 2A champion Mount Carmel heading into the fourth quarter.

The Red Tornadoes limited the Seals to just three foul shots in the final stanza to pick up 48-35 win over Selinsgrove in a Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference crossover game.

Avery DeFazio scored six points, and Veronica Stanford knocked down two 3-pointers as Selinsgrove outscored Mount Carmel, 18-10, to tie the game at 32-32 in the third quarter.

DeFazio led the Seals with 11 points, while Cierra Adams chipped in 8 points for Selinsgrove (2-1).
