CV continues unbeaten run through league, edges Wellsboro by four strokes.

NICHOLS, N.Y. — Cowanesque Valley continued their strong run through the NTL as they swept at Tioga Golf Club in Nichols, New York, Monday.

The Indians bested second place Wellsboro by four shots, 345-349. CV has edged Wellsboro the by three shots the two league matches before this one.

It was tight all up and down the board as Sayre nipped Towanda, 356-357, for third place while Athens edged North Penn-Mansfield by three strokes, 385-388, for fifth place.

The sweep by the Indians (25-0) pulls them even closer to their second straight NTL title. They now have a five-match lead on Wellsboro (20-5) with only two NTL matches, at the Hornet's home course of Tyoga Country Club and Tomasso's.

Individually Sayre's Ryan Murrelle and Wellsboro's Ben Barnett tied for the medalist with 79s.

Scores were generally lower at the hilly course with 14 players shooting 90 or better.

CV's Austin Outman (80) and Tanner Adriance (83) were third and fourth while teammate Tyler Vargeson (86) tied with Wellsboro's Brandyn Tuttle (86) and NP-Mansfield's Andrew Everetts (86) for fifth.

Teammates Tyler Hawley and Bob Farley, both from Towanda, tied for eighth with 87s while Athens' Nate Kennedy (88) rounded out the top 10.

Also sporting good scores were Towanda's Dawsan Manning (89), Sayre's Nate Sweet (90), Wellsboro's Ty Morral and Troy's Hayden Dewey (90).

Individually Murrelle made up a little ground on Adriance for the NTL Player of the Year race.

Rounding out the scores for CV were Christian Kemp (96), Kurtis Easton (100) and Josh Whalen (110), while rounding out Wellsboro are Taynton Reppard (94), Brock Hamblin (96) and Josh Propheta (105).

Sayre's other scorers were James Esposito (92), Nick Allis (95), Ben Harding (101) and Gavin Blair (105), while for Towanda it was Jon Hoffman (104).

Athens' scorers are Dylan Krise (92), Anthony Peterson (101), Michael Cook (104), Brady Smith (111) and Kyler Setzer (122).

The North Penn-Mansfield's scorers are Curtis Craig (99), Ethan Weiskopff (99), Reece White (104), R.J. Farrell (109) and Katrina Toth-Penner (111).

In 9-hole exhibition action, Athens' Chase Minnick shot 57, Sayre's Noah Bennett shot 54, CV's Skylar Smith shot 51, NP-Mansfield's Alex Stein shot 51, and Wellsboro's Ethan Blakley shot 48 and Daniel Mitchell shot 56.

Action continues next week as the NTL heads to Tyoga Country Club.
