Crown, Smith lead NEB past Sayre.

ROME — Northeast Bradford jumped out early and held on late to beat Sayre 68-58 in NTL Division-II boys' basketball action Thursday.

Andy Crown and Zak Smith combined for 49 points in the winning effort.

The Panthers led 15-9 after the first quarter then extended that lead to 30-21 at the half.

Sayre kept it close in the second half but NEB ultimately outscored them 38-37 for the win.

Smith had 27 points and six assists for the Panthers while Crown had 22 points and five boards.

Chazz Labarre added six points and five assists, Lucas Crown had six points and Nick Marino added six points with four boards.

Clayton Connor chipped in with one point, five rebounds and two assists.

Corbin Brown had 20 points to lead Sayre while Jordan Rockwell added 12. Ryan Murrelle and Gage Carnrike each had nine points while Devin Ervin and James Esposito had four points apiece.

NEB won the JV game 28-21 as Will Ostrander had seven points for the Panthers. Zach Moore led Sayre with 11.

North Penn-Mansfield 62, Troy 52

A 21-10 fourth quarter in favor of the Tigers helped them pull out the NTL Division-I boys' basketball win Thursday.

Troy led 15-14 after the first quarter but NP-Mansfield held the Trojans to eight second-quarter points to take a 29-23 halftime lead.

The Trojans retook the lead in the third quarter 42-41 until the Tigers' big fourth.

Brent Burleigh had a career high 17 points, including 3-for-3 from deep, to go with three boards, three assists and three steals.

Nick Kasper added 11 points with five boards and two blocks, Dylan Meyer had 10 points and eight rebounds while Garrett David had eight points and 11 boards.

Jayden Andrews added six points, five rebounds, three steals and three blocks as Sawyer Freeman and Jacob Green each had four points. Brion Smith rounded out the scoring with two points to go with five boards.

Nate Martin had 13 points to lead Troy while Ja Wallace added 12 and Clark Jackson netted 10.

Seldon Rogers scored eight, Dom Ayers netted six and Robert Rogers added three.

North Penn-Liberty 51, Canton 42

For the second time in two weeks the Mountaineers got the best of the Warriors in NTL Division-I boys' basketball action Thursday.

NP-Liberty held a two-point halftime lead (20-18) then used an 18-13 third quarter to pull further away.

In the fourth they went 7-for-13 to preserve the win.

Duncan Zeafla had 21 points to lead the Mounties while Logyn Choplosky added nine.

Noah Spencer scored eight, Logan Horsley and Brandyn Choplosky each had four, Klayton Roupp netted three while Colton Litzelman chipped in with two points.

Zach Rentzel had 11 points to lead Canton while Michael Smithers and Jacob Aumick each had eight. Silas Binford netted five, Zach Davy added four while Bishop Walmsley scored three.

Wellsboro 89, Towanda 27

For the second straight game the Hornets jumped out to a 27-4 first quarter lead.

This time they did it against the Black Knights as they improved to 6-0 in league play during boys' basketball action Thursday.

Nic Ingerick and Brandyn Tuttle had 15 points each to lead the Hornets while Holden Kennedy netted 14 and Dalton Prough added 12. Tuttle had 14 boards for the double-double while Ingerick handed out five assists. Prough also had four rebounds and two assists.

Collin Pietropola scored 10, Quinn Henry had seven, Joseph Grab netted six with Tanner Button, Bergen Weiner and Andrew Brelo adding two points apiece. Pietropola grabbed five boards while Henry had two boards, three assists and two steals.

Luke Tama had 12 points, six steals and four blocks to lead Towanda while Dalton Potter added nine points.

Matt Madigan scored four while Damien Thurston netted two.

Athens 84, Williamson 28

Ethan Lane had 20 points while Aric Westbrook had a strong all-around game of 13 points, seven boards and seven steals as the Wildcats picked up the NTL Division-I boys' basketball win Thursday.

Aaron Lane added 15 points while Gavin Stein had 11 points and seven assists. Ben Gambrell chipped in with 10 points, Brady Smith netted eight, Mateo Baglini scored three while Damian Hudson rounded out the scoring with three.

Wyatt Walters grabbed 10 boards for Athens as well.

Kolby Allen led the Warriors with eight points while Simon Fish and Andrew Hackett had seven points each.

Garrett Mosher netted four while Tristan Templeman chipped in with two.

Girls

North Penn-Liberty 52, Meadowbrook Christian 47

Eva Rice had 16 points to lead the Mountaineers in the non-league girls' basketball win Thursday.

Taylor Thompson added 15 while Kate Mitstifer and Alyssa Remley each had six points. Mckenzie Bogaczyk netted five while Sara Alexander added four.
