Towanda tops Waverly

TOWANDA — Towanda tennis rolled past Waverly, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in non-league action.

Waverly's lone win came from Hunter Heath, as it took him two sets to get past Ryan Risch 6-0 and 6-2 at first singles. In second singles, Towanda's Demetrius Hill beat Seth Lloyd in two sets by a score of 6-4 in both. Jonothan Hoffman claimed third singles for the Black Knights, beating Kaleb Ennis in two sets, 6-2 in both. Django Yrigollen finished the singles matches with a win for Towanda as he defeated Caleb Wilcox 6-0 in each of the two sets in fourth singles.

Towanda's Dave Boardman and Dalton Casey defeated Tyler Bracks and Mike Zimmer in two sets, 6-4 and 6-2 at first doubles. In second doubles, Towanda's pair of Zane Dotter and Tim Morrison beat Hailey Onofre and Collin Kerfer 6-4 and 6-2. The Black Knights completed the sweep of doubles matches with Dominic Tavani and Jayden Wise defeating Theresa Kraus and Justice Johnson 6-1 and 6-0.

"I was really pleased with the effort of our young men today," Towanda coach, Leo Harris said after the match. "They've worked hard to improve and are starting to understand the importance of shot placement," he added.

Towanda is back in action on Thursday, April 12th. They will be taking on North Penn-Liberty at home, at 2 p.m.
